A teacher once told Stephanie, “If you do not learn something new every day, you’ve wasted your day.” Stephanie took this to heart and pushes herself every day to challenge the way she thinks and how she interprets the world. But this wasn’t always the case.
Growing up in small town Missouri, going to college seemed like a pipe-dream. No one in her family had graduated from college, and, looming large, was an expectation of joining the workforce immediately following high school graduation.
Stephanie knew in order to go to college, she had to get a scholarship; and to get a scholarship, she had to work hard in school. Persistence and hard work paid off, and after graduating high school, she was accepted to the University of Missouri, where she graduated with a B.A. in leisure service management.
Wanting more out of her education (and life), she enrolled at Le Cordon Bleu College of Culinary Arts in Las Vegas. For a small-town girl, living under the bright lights of a “big” city was exciting, but it did nothing to temper her drive to succeed and love of learning. She successfully completed the program at the Academy and graduated with an associate of arts in culinary arts, whereupon she worked for a few years in the hospitality industry.
Stephanie “lucked into” her first enrollment coaching position when she moved to Portland, Oregon. It was then she knew she had finally found her calling. As a ReUp Success Coach, Stephanie is passing along her passion for education to others, while continuing to learn something new every day.
When Stephanie’s not helping others realize their educational goals at ReUp, she is working on her master’s in business administration through Brandman University. When she does take a break, she can be found spending time with her pup, Finex, and her boyfriend, or in the kitchen trying out new and innovative recipes.
