Tamyia is a first-generation college student from Stephen F. Austin State University from Dallas, TX, who has over 10 yrs of customer service experience, 1 year of higher education and 6 yrs of counseling experience. She has worked as a Camp Counselor for the City of Plano, Academic Advisor for Amberton University and most recently a Customer Relations Representative for American Airlines. She is motivated to pursue a career in higher education to pay forward the struggles that she endured while trying to obtain her bachelors of Business Administration degree over the course of 8 yrs.
Tamyia believes the best people to provide guidance and direction are those that have walked the path themselves. Her passion is people, specifically students and young adults. She is an artist who enjoys Art therapy, spending time with family, shopping, listening to music and traveling. Her strengths are patience and compassion and her greatest weakness is her nephews. Her dream is to be able to incorporate art into her passion for coaching students and to travel while doing so. Tamyia brings her talent for problem-solving, data analyzing, professionalism and creativity to excel as one of the new Engagement Coordinators at ReUp.
